No Snow in Tahoe? Elope to the Slope in the Mission District

The Skiers’ Lament of 2012 has now been proven with some hard data — there is no snow in Lake Tahoe this winter.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that snow surveyors from the California Department of Water Resources have taken their first Northern California snow measurement of the year. There is less snow in 2012 than there has been in any of the nearly 50 years the Department has been measuring snow levels.

Parklet Craze Spreads to Haight-Ashbury

Effective today, yet another San Francisco parking space has been transformed into an adorably hip Valencia Street “parklet”. Except this one’s not on Valencia Street.
Smack dab in the middle of the Haight Street retail district, the Upper Haight now has it’s first parklet. The new parklet sits in front of the popular Irish sports bar Martin Mack’s.
Most importantly — yes, you can see the game on Macks’ many HDTV screens while sitting in the  parklet. You cannot, however, take your beer outside to the parklet.

New Dog Park Unleashed at Rincon Hill

The bureaucratic issues dogging the project have been resolved, and the sparkling and ultramodern Rincon Hill Dog Park is now open for your dog’s business. The park is currently open seven days a week, from 8 am until 5 pm. The park is slated for an official Grand Opening in February — with more amenities and extended hours
